Project Grad Registration Forms and Payments are due April 1, 2011. There will be a $10 Late-fee will be added after April 1, 2011. Please submit forms and payments to Mrs. Keawe.

Time to work on and complete your community college applications. If you have done it on-line or planning to do the paper and pencil version, please inform your counselor. If you are planning to attend Kauai Community College or any of the other community colleges in the UH system, you need to take the Compass Placement Test. See your counselor for the information. If you are requesting for a transcript for your scholarships, please keep in mind that it has to be an official one because that is what the scholarships require and give your counselor time to get this done for you. If you have received your college acceptance letters or scholarship award letters, remember to bring it to your counselor so she can make a copy or it for documentation purposes. And also scholarships keep coming in, check out the Scholarship File for the updates and please remember to sign out in the logbook.

Reminder to register for your SAT or ACT tests, all registration is done on-line and we are a testing site for the May SAT with April 4th as the regular deadline. Remember to put our school code of 120160, so we can receive your results to place on your transcript and we recommend our college bound Juniors to take the SAT or ACT at least once by the end of Junior Year. If you have any questions please see your counselor.

SPORTS:
Kapa`a High Warrior Cheer team will be having tryouts for the 2011-2012 Cheer team. We are looking for men and women who have lots of pride and spirit. If anyone is interested in trying out please pick up a tryout packet from the main office. You will need a current physical and parent permission form in order to tryout. Tryouts dates and times are included in the tryout packet.

There is event that the KIF AD’s are sponsoring on April 13th at Kauai High School Gym it starts at 7pm. It is a free seminar for all students and parents in grades 8-12 interested in getting recruited to play college sports.

Kapaa High School Foundation Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser

Kapaa High School Foundation Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser
February 11th, 2011

The Kapaa High School Foundation is sponsoring the first annual Fun Run/Walk on the Kapaa Walking Path on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Registration is at 6:00 am and the walk starts at 7:00 am. This event is planned to promote fitness, fun and fellowship, and raise money to support programs and activities at Kapaa High School. Participants will be given an event tank top shirt. Breakfast will be provided. The registration form is available on this website to download, fill in and mail in.

Kapaa High School Foundation grants available

The Kapaa High School Foundation is now accepting applications for three grants of $500.00 each to Kapaa High School Class of 2011 Seniors. Although a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required, academic achievement is not a major consideration for this grant. The emphasis for the getting the award will be on the students’ active participation in community and school service projects and programs.

JROTC Mission: "To Motivate Young PeopleTo Be Better Citizens"
Congratulations to our Kapaa High School JROTC Basketball Team for placing 4th out of 16 teams in the Kalaheo (Oahu) Basketball Tournament this past weekend. The following Cadets were team members: Denmark Aladin, Justin Apilado, Arjay Baniaga, Reese Hicks-Whetsel, Cy O'Brien, Kleiff Pascual, and their Team Captain Kenneth Villanueva. Under Coach LTC Robert Levoit the team practiced hard, played hard, and had fun as they earned their way into the semi-finals. In their second game, Cadet Reese Hicks scored a Buzzer Beater in overtime to secure the victory. Great job to the JROTC basketball team as you represented yourselves, your families, and Kapaa High School with great pride. HOOAH!

Congratulations to our Kapaa High School JROTC Basketball Team for placing 4th out of 16 teams in the Kalaheo (Oahu) Basketball Tournament this past weekend. The following Cadets were team members: Denmark Aladin, Justin Apilado, Arjay Baniaga, Reese Hicks-Whetsel, Cy O'Brien, Kleiff Pascual, and their Team Captain Kenneth Villanueva. Under Coach LTC Robert Levoit the team practiced hard, played hard, and had fun as they earned their way into the semi-finals. In their second game, Cadet Reese Hicks scored a Buzzer Beater in overtime to secure the victory. Great job to the JROTC basketball team as you represented yourselves, your families, and Kapaa High School with great pride. HOOAH!

JUNIORS & SENIORS:
Prom season is here! Prom will be at the Kauai Beach Resort on Saturday, April 2 at 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm. The cost is $55.00 CASH ONLY! We will begin collecting payments on Wednesday, February 23 during morning recess and lunch at the SAC room. You must NOT have any financial obligations and must meet the 2.0 GPA and GLO grades. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Watanabe in the
SAC room. Last day to pay for the Prom is Thursday, March 10. You have lots of time to plan, so start now!

Foodland Shop for Higher Education -thank you for shopping at Foodland and designating Kapaa High School as the school of your choice to earn points. As of February 24, the top 5 schools are1) Lahainaluna High School, 2) Hilo High, 3) Kapaa High, 4) Kahuku High and Intermediate and 5) Baldwin High. So keep shopping at Foodland so we can keep earning those points. The program ends on March 29. 3/3

New Scholarships keeps coming in to the Counselor"s Office - Check out the Scholarship file for the updates during non-classroom time only. As you take a scholarship, remember to sign out in the Scholarship log on top of the filing cabinet. The Scholarship File has the scholarships that are sent to us, there are even more online at various websites. Pick up the Grove Farm (due March 1) and the Foodland Scholarship from Mrs. Okamoto (due March 23) 3/3

Juniors:
Reminder to Juniors -
1) If you are planning to take the May SAT, the deadline to register is April 8. All registration is done on-line. We are a testing site for the May SAT. Remember to put our school code of 120160, so we can receive your results to place on your transcript. If you don't sign up for the May SAT, then we recommend to take the June 4th one for sure. We are not a testing site for June 4th. Whichever test date you choose, remember to get some test prep done. Any questions, see your counselor. 3/3

2) You can take the ACT test also, with or without the Writing Section depending on your college choices. The next test date is April 9 and the registration deadline is March 4. All registration is done on-line. We are not a testing site for the ACT. Remember to put our school code of 120160, so we can receive your results to place on your transcript. If you don't sign up for the April ACT, then we recommend to take the June 11th one for sure. We recommend our college bound Juniors to take the SAT or ACT at least once by the end of Junior Year.
