Final round of Hawaii State Assessment (HSA): The 3rd and final round for the HSA begins this week for mathematics, Reading and Science. Testing time frame is expected to last until mid-April.

Advance Placement test-taking strategy workshops begin this Saturday for current AP Calculus students and current AP Language students. Be sure to complete your registration form and return it by Friday, March 30th. This workshop is FREE and takes place on three Saturdays. Each Saturday session is three hours long. If you really want to save money on college tuition, please do not pass up this one-time FREE offer designed to improve your AP score.


JUNIORS & SOPHMORES:
If you are planning to take a Running Start course next year, either the Math 103 course offerred here at Kapaa High School or one of the courses at Kauai Community College, you need to take your COMPASS Placement Test, and complete a Running Start and KCC application. These three things need to be reviewed by your counselor before you enroll yourself at KCC. Quite a few of you showed an interest in this during the time of registration, so if you are still interested you need to get these things done quickly so the counselors can finalize your schedule for next year.

The applications for this scholarship was due on Monday, March 19. We are in the process of choosing the 5 seniors and will be recommending these seniors to be awarded the scholarships.

Special Olympics Swim Team for Kapaa High School are collecting pledges for our Swim-A-Thon to be held on March 26, 2012. The pledges we collect will be used to take our team to Oahu in May for Special Olympic State Games. Poster will be posted around the school so that faculty, staff, and students help support us by pledging us. I will have a pledge box in my Room A9A Mapuhi where anyone can come and drop money (even $ 1.00 would help). Ig anyone pledges $ 25.00 or more I will take their name and Shirt Size and they will receive a free Special Olympic T-shirt. We really need support for our Special Olympics Swim Team. However much money we earn as a team, at the our Fundraiser Swim-A-Thon on March 26, 2012, as the coach I need to swim 50% of the pledges we earned in laps. our athletes will split up the rest of the pledges and they must swim those laps also.

Student when upgrading from Provisional License to a 4 year full License you need to bring in BIRTH CERTIFICATE and SOCIAL SECURITY CARD all original documents no faxes or copies. Legal Presence Law started on March 5, 2012.

Ig anyone pledges $ 25.00 or more I will take their name and Shirt Size and they will receive a free Special Olympic T-shirt. We really need support for our Special Olympics Swim Team. However much money we earn as a team, at the our Fundraiser Swim-A-Thon on March 26, 2012, as the coach I need to swim 50% of the pledges we earned in laps. our athletes will split up the rest of the pledges and they must swim those laps also.

Student when upgrading from Provisional License to a 4 year full License you need to bring in BIRTH CERTIFICATE and SOCIAL SECURITY CARD all original documents no faxes or copies. Legal Presence Law started on March 5, 2012.

Foodland's Shop for Higher Education update: Keep Shopping at Foodland to help us earn points. Please designate Kapaa High School (7545) as the school of your choice. The top (5) schools will receive (5) $2,000 scholarships each. Next (10) schools will receive (3) $2,000 scholarships each. Next (10) schools will receive (2) $2,000 scholarships each. Next (25) schools will receive (1) $2,000 scholarship each. The top 5 schools are: 1) Kahuku High and Intermediate, 2) Lahainaluna, 3) Maui High, 4 Hilo High and 5) Baldwin High. Kapaa High School is currently in 6th place. So Shop, Shop, Shop at Foodland. Help us to earn scholarships for the Class of 2012. The program ends March 20.

STUDENTS:
Special Olympics Swim Team for Kapaa High School are collecting pledges for our Swim-A-Thon to be held on March 26, 2012. The pledges we collect will be used to take our team to Oahu in May for Special Olympic State Games. Poster will be posted arounf the school so that faculty, staff, and students help support us by pledging us. Science Celebration!
Come by the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall on Friday, March 2nd to view district science fair projects and see informational booths and science/technology demonstrations. The viewing will bee from 4-6 and student recognition and awards will be from 6-7.
