KAPA’A HIGH ALL:
According to Chpt 19 (the DOEs guide to discipline), Kava and Betel Nut are specifically listed alongside alcohol as a prohibited substance at school. Students found in possession of, or under the influence of, Alcohol, Kava and Betel Nut will be suspended 90 days for an intoxicating substance. Please share this information with all your friends!

Final round of Hawaii State Assessment (HSA): The 3rd and final round for the HSA begins this week for mathematics, Reading and Science. Testing time frame is expected to last until mid-April.

The Kauai District Student Council will be hosting "Star Wars Kauai", a District Talent Show contest between Kapa'a, Kauai and Waimea High schools. It will be held on Friday, March 30 at the Convention Hall at 7:00 pm. The cost is $5.00 presale, $7.00 at the door. You may buy your tickets at the SAC room. Come cheer on and support our students: Jonathan Obiano, Aveilana Saldana, Evangeline Cook, Jalissa Rapozo, Brandi Yamamoto. Go Warriors!

Advance Placement test-taking strategy workshops begin this Saturday for AP Calculus and AP Language. Be sure to complete your registration form and return it to either Mrs. Millard or Ms. Carlson by Friday. This workshop is FREE and takes place on three Saturdays. Each Saturday session is three hours long. If you really want to save money on college tuition, please do not pass up this one-time FREE offer designed to improve your AP score.

SENIORS:
Come and apply for the Ethan Shell Memorial Scholarship for $1,000. Go to the counseling office to pick up an application if you will be pursuing a degree at a 4 year college or university, in theatre arts, music, dance, or stagecraft! If you were performing in KPAC, this would be YOU! Deadline has been extended beyond March 30th...But hurry! Do not let this scholarship go to waste!

JUNIORS:
Are you thinking about going to college? Then NOW is the time to sign up to take the May 5th SAT here at Kapaa High school! Space is limited to 60 students and it's first come first serve! Do not wait until the deadline of April 6th or the seats may be full! If you miss this test date...You may sign up for the JUNE 2nd test but that will be given at Kauai High or Island school. If your counselor gave you the online sign up information then hurry and sign up today! If you need the sign up information or if you qualify for free or reduced lunch, and you are interested in taking the test, please see your counselor immediately! You need this college entrance exam, the SAT, to be able to go to any 4 year college right after high school so do it now and don't fall behind! You have the power to determine your future so make the right choices! Start early and don't procrastinate!

JUNIORS & SOPHMORES:
If you are planning to take a Running Start course next year, either the Math 103 course offerred here at Kapaa High School or one of the courses at Kauai Community College, you need to take your COMPASS Placement Test, and complete a Running Start and KCC application. These three things need to be reviewed by your counselor before you enroll yourself at KCC. Quite a few of you showed an interest in this during the time of registration, so if you are still interested you need to get these things done quickly so the counselors can finalize your schedule for next year.

JUNIORS, SOPHMORES, FRESHMEN:
Iolani School (Oahu) will be offering a Summer SAT PREP Class, from June 11 - July 20. Please come to the Counselor's office during recess or lunch for more information.

The NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling invites all 10, 11 and 12th grade students to attend the Honolulu National College Fair on Thursday, April 12, 2012. It will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center. If you and your parents are interested in attending please see the counseling office for more information or register online at www. gotomyncf.com
